PDF MAKER PRIVACY POLICY

Last Updated: November 1, 2026

1. WHO WE ARE

PDF Maker ("the app", package com.billionx.pdf.reader.editor.converter) is published by Lost Penguin Labs, the developer name shown on Google Play. Questions about privacy: support@billionx.co.

2. THE SHORT VERSION

  • Your PDF files and documents stay on your device. The app does not upload them, and we do not have a server that receives them.
  • There is no account and no sign-in.
  • The app shows ads (Google AdMob and the advertising partner networks AdMob works with) and uses Google Firebase for analytics, crash reports and remote settings. These services send limited technical data off your device, described below.
  • Premium subscriptions are sold and billed by Google Play. We never see your card details.

3. YOUR FILES AND DOCUMENTS

The app opens, searches, edits, merges, splits, compresses, signs, scans and recognises text in documents entirely on your device. Document content, file names, scans, signatures, passwords you type to open a file, and recognised text are not sent to us or to advertising or analytics services. If you choose to share a file, the app hands it to the app you pick (for example email); that app's own privacy policy applies from then.

4. ACCESS TO FILES ON YOUR DEVICE

  • To list the PDF files stored on your phone, the app can ask for "All files access" (Android permission MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE; on Android 9 and 10 the standard storage permission). We ask only after explaining why, and you can say "Not now". You can turn it off any time in Android Settings > Apps > Special app access > All files access. Without it you can still open files one at a time with the system file picker.
  • The app uses the permission only to find and open documents (PDF, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and text files) and to save results next to the original file. It does not collect or transmit the files it finds.
  • Files you create or change with the app are saved next to the original, or in Documents/PDF Maker. They are ordinary files in your storage: they stay on your phone when you uninstall the app, and you delete them like any other file.
  • Photos you choose for "images to PDF" are selected with the system Photo Picker; the app receives only what you pick.
  • If you use Scan, Google's on-device ML Kit Document Scanner runs on your device. The app does not request the camera permission itself.
  • Text recognition (OCR) runs on your device with Google's ML Kit. Google Play services may download the scanner and the text-recognition model once, which needs an internet connection.
  • Notifications (optional, Android 13+): the app may ask once, after a long task, if you want a notification when it finishes. You can decline.

5. DATA COLLECTED BY SERVICES IN THE APP

These services may send the following to Google, or to the ad partners named below, over encrypted connections (TLS/HTTPS). This is based on the providers' published disclosures reviewed on November 1, 2026; see their policies for details.

  • Google AdMob (Google Mobile Ads SDK). Data: IP address (can indicate approximate location), app launches, taps and video views, app and SDK performance data, Android advertising ID, app set ID. Purpose: Showing ads, measuring ads, fraud prevention, analytics.
  • Google User Messaging Platform (UMP). Data: Your consent choice (stored on your device). Purpose: Asking for consent in the EEA, United Kingdom and Switzerland.
  • Firebase Analytics. Data: App usage events, app instance (installation) identifier, device and app metadata. Purpose: Understanding which features are used and improving the app.
  • Firebase Crashlytics. Data: Crash stack traces, app state at the time of a crash, device model and OS version, installation identifier. Purpose: Finding and fixing crashes.
  • Firebase Remote Config. Data: Country and language, time zone, OS and app version, installation identifier. Purpose: Changing settings such as ad frequency or offers without an app update.
  • Google ML Kit (Document Scanner, Text Recognition). Data: Diagnostic and usage information (device model, OS version, app package and version, performance metrics, event and error codes) and an installation identifier; scanned images and recognised text are processed on the device. Purpose: Making the feature work and diagnosing problems.
  • Ad partner networks used through AdMob mediation: Meta Audience Network, Pangle (ByteDance), AppLovin, Mintegral, Liftoff (Vungle). Data: Device and app identifiers including the Android advertising ID, IP address (can indicate approximate location), ad requests, views and taps, device and OS details, and diagnostics. Pangle's code can also read the Google Play install referrer.. Purpose: Showing and measuring ads, fraud prevention.
  • Google Play (Billing, In-App Review). Data: Purchase and subscription status handled by Google Play; the review prompt is shown by Google Play. Purpose: Selling and checking Premium; asking for a rating.

We do not sell personal data for money. Ad partners receive the identifiers above to show and measure ads, which some laws call "sharing" or "selling"; see Advertising and your choices. We do not use your documents for advertising.

6. ADVERTISING AND YOUR CHOICES

  • Ads personalisation: in the EEA, United Kingdom and Switzerland the app shows Google's consent form (UMP) the first time you open it, and ads and analytics follow your choice. You can change it later in Settings > Privacy choices (shown where the law requires it). Elsewhere, ads may be personalised using the advertising ID.
  • You can reset your advertising ID or opt out of ads personalisation in Android Settings > Google > Ads.
  • Premium removes ads. Two Premium tools (OCR and High compression) can also be used once by choosing to watch a short rewarded ad.
  • Children: the app is for adults aged 18 and over and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13 (or the higher age set by local law). If you think a child has used the app, write to support@billionx.co.

7. SUBSCRIPTIONS

Premium is offered as a monthly or yearly subscription through Google Play; the yearly plan can include a 3-day free trial. Price, billing period, free-trial terms and renewal are shown before you buy. Payment, renewal and cancellation are handled by Google Play; manage them in Google Play > Payments & subscriptions > Subscriptions. We do not receive your payment card details.

8. HOW LONG WE KEEP DATA

We do not run a server that stores your documents or personal profile. Analytics, crash and ad data are held by Google under the retention settings of those services: analytics event data is deleted automatically after the retention period set in our project, which is never longer than 14 months; crash reports are kept 90 days. Documents and settings stay on your device until you delete them or uninstall the app.

9. DELETING YOUR DATA

There is no account. Uninstalling the app removes its settings and recent-files list from your device; files you saved with the app stay in your storage until you delete them. In the app, Settings > Reset analytics data clears the usage data kept on the device and starts a new anonymous ID. See https://billionx.co/pdf-reader-data-deletion/ for how to ask us to delete data linked to your installation (you send us the Analytics ID shown in Settings > Analytics ID) and how to reset it.

10. YOUR RIGHTS

Depending on where you live (for example the EEA, United Kingdom, Switzerland, California) you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or port personal data, to object to processing, and to withdraw consent. Because we do not hold an account, we may need an identifier from your device (see the data-deletion page) to find your data. Contact support@billionx.co. You can also complain to your local data-protection authority. Where the law of the EEA, the United Kingdom or Switzerland applies, we rely on your consent for personalised ads and for analytics identifiers, and on our legitimate interest in keeping the app working for crash reports.

11. SECURITY

Data sent by the app's services is encrypted in transit. Your documents are protected by Android's file system protections on your device. Password-protected PDFs: the password you enter is used on your device only to open or protect the file and is not sent anywhere.

12. INTERNATIONAL TRANSFERS

Google services may process data in countries other than yours. See Google's privacy policy and Firebase's data-processing terms: https://policies.google.com/privacy and https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy.

13. CHANGES

We will update this page and the "Last updated" date when the app's data practices change. Material changes will also be shown in the app.
